THE QUALITIES OF A SUNDAY
SCHOOL TEACHER.

EVERY life is a reason for its existence and in no way can God be void of comprehensible qualifications of being a Creator, while man can enter through the avenues of the beauties of Nature into the constructures of the Eternal Mind. Man is but a miniature of God, and the facts of his life are but doors ajar letting loose a few glimpses of his Inner Self—the underlying Life.

Man is on the way towards the goal of Life when he is God's answer to the "why" of the world, when he is a reason for being. And this is the fundamental truth and principle that breaks forth into beauty in the qualities of a Sunday School teacher.

First of all we shall note Punctuality when attending and constancy in giving attendance. We readily acknowledge that "there is a tide in the affairs of men, which taken at the flood leads on to fortune"; but when doing so, cannot we hear an intruding voice murmuring:—"The spur of the moment will do then." True. But we hope nobody thinks it to be so if we are not ready at the moment to set sail freely with the "tide of affairs." The want of punctuality sets a gap between man and success. And in possessing this great necessity of life a Sunday School teacher would do great good to his pupils in showing the worth and beauty of it in his actions before them. He should be thorough in explaining the verses before the class, but his thoroughness should be a blend of beauty with simplicity, especially if his class be made up of youth. But the fundamental thing in him we believe must be that he is himself a professing Christian, making his life the meaning and glory of his profession. Lacking this though possessing the others, what is it but to possess a "beautiful bow and arrow" while being without a strong arm to rise it, nor a clear piercing eye to direct the path of the arrow.

As a young one myself I feel that these are the most important, but not all of the qualities that should help me to success and above all to help me in sight of the beautiful Christian motto—To Live for others."
