
LIEUTENANT JOHN FITZGERALD PRESTIDGE.
Lieutenant Prestidge was the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Prestidge, Victoria Park, Bangor, and grandson of the late Mr. W. O'Brien Fitzgerald, Bangor. He was educated at the Friars School, Bangor, and later he was articled to Mr. Meacher of Penmaenmawr and Conway, and passed the Surveyor's examination. On September 15th, 1914, he joined the Public School Boys Battalion, and went to Epsom, where he was nominated for Sandhurst the same year. In the Spring of 1915 he joined the First Suffolk Regiment, and immediately proceeded to France, Salonika and the Bulgarian frontier. He was in the first battle of Loos, the Somme, Ovillers, Posieres, Fluers, and was promoted 1st Lieutenant at Loos for valour on the field. He was acting Captain in 1916-1917. Wounded at Arras on April 28, 1917, he succumbed to his injuries on May 2nd. He was 23 years of age.
