BEDD-ARGRAFF,
(Yn Saesoneg.)

A LESSON take from me, O man,
And learn that life is but a span:
Seek grace instead of worldly pelf;
Love God, and trust him, not thyself.

The heavy stroke of death, you know,
Will rob you of your wealth below:
Then seek the pearl, whate'er it cost,
The treasure that will ne'er be lost.

How vain and fading are the toys,
On which vain man his life employs !
Seek then in time, who e'er thou art,
A better object for thy heart.

As I now lie in earth and dust,
So soon you may, ere long you must:
Remember now in healthful bloom,
Death opens man's eternal doom.

The message that grim death shall bring,
Will equal beggar, lord, and king:
But, of the souls that Christ do love,
The poorest will be kings above.
