To the Gentlemen who superintend the Signing of the DENBIGHSHIRE PETITION TO THE HONORABLE HOUSE OF COMMONS, respecting the Claims of the Roman Catholics,
    T. JONES, Minister, and an Inhabitant of the Town of Denbigh,
    PROTESTS,
"THAT he, from his heart, detests the mass of errors "contained in what is called the Roman Catholic Religion, and is truly willing and ready to join in the use of every justifiable means of opposing it; at the same time, wishing to live, if possible, in peace with all men.
That, with regard to the operation of the Test Laws, as affecting himself or his brethren, he feels no dissatisfaction, or anxiety for the repealing or altering of them, as long as our Legislature and Country in general shall deem them a necessary barrier for the defence of our most venerable and valuable Constitution.
That, with respect to the claims of the Roman Catholics, particularly in Ireland, he is of opinion, that some further concessions may be made without endangering our Constitution: that promises from high authority have been made and held ont to them in various ways and at different times; and that whatever has a tendency to irritate should be studiously avoided, especially in the present alarming crisis of difficulty and danger.
That he highly approves of the substance of the following sentence, which forms the concluding part of the Petition agreed upon by the Gentlemen, Clergy, and other Inhabitants of the County of Anglesey; Your Petitioners do most humbly pray, that your Lordships, in any measures which in your wisdom you may adopt for the further relief of the Roman Catholics of Ireland, will take especial care, that those measures be so framed as to preserve that Constitution, civil and religious, which your Petitioners have received from their ancestors, and which it is their anxious wish to transmit unimpaired to their posterity.
That he humbly hopes his signature to the Petition lately agreed upon at Ruthin, may be accepted with or under the declaration, limitations, or concessions above expressed.
    DENBIGH, Feb. 2, 1820.
