study. A godly man without much training may be very acceptable as a local preacher, but let no young man be ordained to the ministry unless he has received the best training available. If God has called him to be a minister of the gospel, he will also open the way for him to secure the proper education. No wonder that Paul, the greatest scholar and ablest thinker of the twelve apostles, said, "And who is sufficient for these things? " And if that was the experience of the inspired apostle, should it not be the experience of the preachers of the present age, and of all ages? And should we not be anxious to avail ourselves of help from every possible source?

Risiart Ddu o Wynedd was an earnest Christian since early boyhood; and, according to the testimony of his sister, had been for years desirous of entering the Christian ministry. He was wise enough to realize the need of the best training in order to be "a good minister of Jesus Christ" So he entered Bala College in the fall of 1862, and was received at the annual meeting of March, 1863. Allusion has already been made to his literary compositions and poetical victories while at Bala. But it is only doing him justice to state that these literary productions did not interfere much with his work as student. Of course, if he had devoted all his time to his studies, he could do better justice to his lessons, and get more credit for himself. But he kept up with his class on all subjects, and stood at the head in some things.
