"Sweetly his pale arms folded my neck in a warm embrace
As the light of immortal beauty silently covered his face,
And when the arrows of sunset lodged in the tree- tops bright,
He fell in his saint-like beauty asleep by the Gates of Light."

The remains of Risiart Ddu were enclosed in a metallic coffin. His funeral was a large one, many having come from long distances to follow the hearse to Soar Church, where the ministers of the neighbor- hood took part in the services, after which the interment took place in the cemetery, and he was laid to rest beside his sister Louisa, Anticipating a large gathering at the memorial services to be held some Sunday later, the Peniel brethren offered their house of worship (which is larger than Soar), for the occasion. And there at Peniel church the Rev. Lewis preached the funeral sermon, taking for his text the words—" He was a burning and a shining light," &c.

In Soar Congregational Cemetery, Rosendale, Wisconsin, stands the Edwards's monument. On its western face is the following inscription:—
