Item. I bequeath to my son Richarde all my written books of histories and humanitee.

Yn gwrthwynebu Polidor yr Eidalwr Nid nepell oddiwrtho trigai Polidor Vergil, y mynach o'r Eidal, a ysgrifennodd Hanes Prydain, ac a ddifenwodd yr hen Frutaniaid. Amheuai Polidor eirwiredd y chwedlau a adroddai Sieffre o Fynwy ynghylch tarddiad a hanes boreuol y Cymry. Teimlodd Prys hyn i'r byw, a dywedir iddo roddi llawer o gymhorth i Leland pan yn ysgrifennu ei Assertio Arturi. Aeth gam ymhellach na hyn, o herwydd ysgrifennodd lyfr ei hun i wrthbrofi syniadau Polidor. Ni fu byw i gyhoeddi'r llyfr, ond yn ei ewyllys dywed:
Item. I wyll that my sonne Richarde shall put my booke in printe that I have made againste Polidorus Storye of Englande, and to annexe to the same some pece of antiquitie that is not yet printed out of the written bookes of histories that I have in my house, as William Malmesburie, de Regibus Anglorum, or Henricus Huntingdon, and towardes the charges thereof I bequeathe him twentie marks.
