[golygu]interface language
[golygu]It was great to see your application for admin rights on wicitestun. Your mention of updating the interface by copying from wicipedia was very timely as I was wondering how to get something done about this on commons, being as you may be aware in the middle of translating the croeso page. You may also be aware that the interface on Wicipedia itself is a work in progress. Over the past year Gareth Wyn has done some work on this, with some suggestions from myself. However since about May only Deb amongst the administrators has been active and so there is a backlog of suggestions to update messages on my user page. I add to this list when I happen to stumble across a message which needs attention so this is not a comprehensive list of changes needed. I am rambling - the point is - you might want to consider whether you prefer to hang on till we have some more active administrators on Wicipedia so that the interface is more uptodate before copying or whether you want to copy it over as it stands and then copy again at a later date? Also, I have noticed that sometimes the messages go back to an English version. I guess that this is a computer thing where the root message code has been changed and it has gone back to a default narrative? If so, then there will always be amendments needed to the messages to reinput Welsh narrative instead of English defaults. If I am on the right track here will this mean that regular updates from wicipedia to the other welsh wicis would be handy?
Also, are you able to copy over the interface to Comin Wicifryngau (for discussion on new name for commons see Y Caffi)? I have already included a spiel about the work in progress aspect of the Welsh interface on the draft translation of Croeso page on Commons (not yet posted).
And another thing - will you be able to change the wikisource logo to wicitestun when you are an administrator? That would be great as I am never sure whether I'm in wikisource or wikitestun.

- I was just thinking of translating whatever is already at cy-pedia over here and then not really worrying about it anymore until someone comes along and says "Hey, ABC isn't a very good translation, it should be DEF; it's already been changed at cy-pedia. As for Commons, since I'm an admin there, I can add or edit pages in the MediaWiki namespace for you so you can add a Welsh interface, but I'm not sure how to go about changing the Welsh name of Wikimedia Commons itself. I also don't know how to go about changing the logo (it's not something I've had to do the other places where I'm an admin), but I can find out. Angr 13:09, 30 Medi 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry not to have got back to you sooner. I am still working on translating/revising the system messages on cy.wikipedia. About halfway there. However I have just found out that there is a new project providing support for translators, helping us to amend the database files held at wiki foundation, rather than amending the messages on each wiki project independantly. So my translation efforts from now on will be running in tandem on both cy.wikipedia and the main language file. This should mean that eventually we should be able to update all the Welsh interfaces from the one central translation (I think). That's the goal but at current rate of progress it will be many months before its done. Anyway wanted to keep you updated on this. Discussion of Welsh name for Wikimedia Commons ground was left somewhat up in the air! Lloffiwr 22:50, 28 Mai 2007 (UTC)
- At last something more to report. Using Betawiki to translate and amend the messages in the source files is really useful. In September 2007 Betawiki started to load messages onto the source files for all language translations working through Betawiki every few days, and so you should have seen messages on the Welsh interface here changing in dribs and drabs since then. It has been and continues to be a long slog. However, over 80% of the core messages have now been translated and all pre-existing translations reviewed. I feel that the project is far enough advanced that it is worth reviewing the messages on wicitestun. Where a message has been customised on Wicitestun the default Wikimedia message and the customised message both appear - in Monobook skin the default appears in pink above the custom message in light blue. There has not been a lot of customisation on wicitestun so there are not too many to review. Could you review the messages? There will be some like MediaWici:portal where you need to keep the customised message (Y Scriptoriwm) in this case. In the case of others however you may like to delete the customised message in favour of the new default, eg MediaWici:datedefault. It would be much appreciated if you could do this. If it causes any difficulty please leave a message on my Wicipedia talk page. Lloffiwr 19:16, 1 Awst 2008 (UTC)
Adding new page
[golygu]Angr,
I can't find the default page within cy.Wikisource that allows users to create new pages or categories.
Please could you point me to the URL or add a URL to the Help (Cymorth) page.
Thanks.

[golygu]Kleine Korrektur noch - vor den Einträgen aus dem Main-Namespace muss noch ein ":" sein, also z.B. {{:W/index.php}}. Und den w/index.php kannst Du dann auch löschen. Ahoerstemeier 08:22, 28 Mehefin 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you. I didn't know about such page already existed. Drini 15:13, 27 Medi 2007 (UTC)
Some Mediawiki messages which do need to be customised
[golygu]If you compare the file upload form on wikisource with the welsh version on wicitestun you will see that they are quite different. The text at the top is governed by the message MediaWiki:Uploadtext. This has been customised on Wikisource en:MediaWiki:Uploadtext. If you would like the Welsh version to be customised along similar lines let me know and I will translate the message as you wish it to appear in Welsh on wicitestun. Lloffiwr 20:04, 1 Awst 2008 (UTC)
- If you'd like to translate the message, go ahead and I'll make the change. But Wicitestun is very low-traffic, and AFAIK no one has ever uploaded anything here, so I wouldn't call it really urgent. —Angr 20:57, 1 Awst 2008 (UTC)
Just added a few changes!
[golygu]Hope you will agree. :-) Llywelyn2000 09:50, 25 Awst 2008 (UTC)
Any idea who deleted Robin Llwyd's poems from Wikisource? No ref under 'history'. I undersatnd that he has the copyright to all his poems are 'free to all; copyright free'.Llywelyn2000 06:40, 24 Medi 2008 (UTC)
- I deleted them. What is the evidence that his poems are copyright free? If they are, I can undelete them. —Angr 08:52, 24 Medi 2008 (UTC)
On fame
[golygu]Just because I'm not famous doesn't mean I can't write poetry. Is there a rule that it has to be famous? Y ddraig felen 15:41, 7 Mawrth 2010 (UTC)
- There's a rule that material added to Wikisource has to have been previously published. Putting your own poetry on your user page is fine. —Angr 08:57, 8 Mawrth 2010 (UTC)

[golygu]Hi Angr. I've made a request for admin rights in the Sgriptoriwm, as there's a possibility that mass uploads will be made in the next few months. Thanks. Llywelyn2000 (sgwrs) 23:43, 9 Tachwedd 2013 (UTC)
Anrheg Nadolig i bawb - Beibl Wiliam Morgan
[golygu]What a great Christmas present, Angr! It brings another meaning to the old adage: 'Beibl i bawb o bobl y byd'!
I didn't realise we could match up text to images; do I need to convert Llyfr Du Caerfyrddin from PDF to djvu to enable this? We also need to link from the home page to Beibl 1588; now or later? Diolch yn fawr a blwyddyn newydd dda! Llywelyn2000 (sgwrs) 03:58, 30 Rhagfyr 2013 (UTC)
It ought to work directly with the PDF. At any rate, PDFs work at French Wikisource, so why not here? There's already a link from the Main Page to Beibl, from where one can access either the 1588 or the 1620 Bible. —Angr 10:32, 30 Rhagfyr 2013 (UTC)- Duh, obviously it works with PDFs here since Indecs:Beibl Cyssegr-Lan 01 Intro+Genesis.pdf itself is based on a PDF. —Angr 08:08, 2 Ionawr 2014 (UTC)
- Many thanks. Two points. If it works with PDFs how do I get the text on one side and the image on the other as you are doing with the 1588 Bible? Secondly, the author on this 1620 Bible should be Richard Parry; can you check this please? Diolch! Llywelyn2000 (sgwrs) 16:13, 8 Ionawr 2014 (UTC)
- The text on one side and the image on the author happens automatically in Tudalen: namespace. Just name the page "Tudalen:<title-of-pdf>.pdf/<page-number>" and when you create it the image of that specific page of the PDF will be there waiting for you to add the text (for example, click on Tudalen:Llyfr Du Caerfyrddin.pdf/10 and see what happens). As for Richard Parry, surely he's only a "second author"; the 1620 Bible is just a revision of the 1588 Bible, not a whole new translation. —Angr 16:55, 8 Ionawr 2014 (UTC)

Bugeilio'r gwenith gwyn
[golygu]Hi, I have been working on w:en:Bugeilio'r Gwenith Gwyn and hope that you can help.
- In 2008 you created a Wikisource page for the words of Bugeilio'r gwenith gwyn, but you did not give a source for the words. Please add the source if you still have it.
- Please see w:en:Talk:Bugeilio'r Gwenith Gwyn#Different versions of Welsh words. Can you comment on the differences between the versions and on which version we should use? Have you anything to add to the other points I have raised on the talk page?
Thanks, Verbcatcher (sgwrs) 19:01, 7 Ionawr 2016 (UTC)
- I've added the source at Sgwrs:Bugeilio'r gwenith gwyn. —Angr 21:56, 7 Ionawr 2016 (UTC)
Beibl_(1620)/Sant_Luc looks broken
[golygu]It starts correctly, but towards the end there seem to be pieces either missing or in the wrong order. 2620:10D:C092:180:0:0:1:159A 02:59, 23 Chwefror 2016 (UTC)

Auto-patrolled rights
[golygu]Hi, please could you grant me auto-patrolled rights on Wicidestun so that I don't have to fill in a captcha every time I include an external link in an edit. I'm currently working on adding all the Welsh poems of Goronwy Owen. BabelStone (sgwrs) 23:02, 23 Awst 2020 (UTC)
- Sorry, the only rights I'm allowed to give you here are to make you "IP block exempt", so I've done that. All other potential rights groups are grayed out for you, but "auto-patrolled" isn't even one of the grayed out options. I can't even make you a confirmed user, but maybe that will change with time. Some rights become available after a user has made a certain number of edits or has been around for a certain number of days. Thanks for your help contributing to Wicidestun! —Mahāgaja · sgwrs 05:54, 24 Awst 2020 (UTC)
- OK, thanks. Hopefully the captcha will go away after I've done a certain number of edits here. BabelStone (sgwrs) 07:15, 24 Awst 2020 (UTC)
Policy on misspellings?
[golygu]Hey there EliffantMawr! I'm a little new to this wiki, but my understanding so far is that we want to entry to reflect the source document verbatim, including misspellings and all. Is that correct? I made some edits to Tudalen:Y bibl cyssegr-lan.djvu/112, in particular adding some "alternative spellings" as they appeared in the source (i.e. "cyssegr", "ar ol", "enneiniad", "fynu", etc.). Is this correct practice? If so, I'll keep moving through that document with that in mind. Guitarmankev1 (sgwrs) 19:02, 22 Hydref 2020 (UTC)
- Yes, we want to copy the spelling of the original exactly. If there's a misprint, you can mark it with "sic" (we don't have a template for that here at Welsh Wikisource, but we could make one), but that's really for things that the original printers clearly didn't intend, not for spellings that they did intend but that are nonstandard today. —Mahāgaja · sgwrs 20:35, 22 Hydref 2020 (UTC)
DIOLCH - THANKS!
[golygu]Just to say that I think all the work you're doing here is really very good, and very much appreciated by us all! Llywelyn2000 (sgwrs) 17:46, 20 Mai 2021 (UTC)

How we will see unregistered users
[golygu]Hi!
You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.
When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.
Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.
If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.
We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.
Thank you. /Johan (WMF)
